Our drive to find the perfect piece of furniture for your project occasionally means we have to design it ourselves — and this is our favorite kind of news. Whether a console, a coffee table, an ottoman, new library casework or a living room bookcase that makes a statement, the studio is able to design original pieces and have them brought to life by fine furniture makers in the Pacific Northwest.
The result of this recent work is our Chiaroscuro Collection, a line that reflects our immersion in the work of Caravaggio — specifically his use of chiaroscuro to evoke darkness and light. The pieces in this collection also reflect our obsession with Lina Iris Viktor, another all-time favorite whose work we love for its mystery, power and sense of spiritual quest.
Pictured below are conceptual drawings as well as photographs of Chiaroscuro Table 001. This piece embraces the beauty of ebonized oak and the simplicity of geometric shapes, and leans into the abundance of natural light within the space for which it was designed.
Chiaroscuro Table 001 was milled, assembled, stained and waxed by hand.
